Pierced

These photos are of the first project that high school students do in their Hanover High School Jewelry class.  We call them pierced designs because they involve designing a piece of jewelry that is made from a layer(s) of sheet metal that is pierced with a drill bit and then cut out with a jewelry saw.  It has to be designed so that it will retain it’s structural integrity and function well with metal removed.  Students make many different kinds of projects with this design technique and finish them with filing, sanding and polishing.
