Castings
Castings
The final project in the Jewelry Course is to do a lost-wax cast design. This project allows
the student to build or carve a design out of wax that can be very sculptural and organic.
The wax is encased in plaster and then the wax is cleaned out completely at 1200 degrees.
Molten metal is spun into the plaster mold and comes out with the shape of the wax. The
metal piece is then filed, sanded and polished.
